Tacky Pants

Monkey Boy is one of those kids who will literally go up a size in a week. One week the pants fit, the next week they don't. Same thing with shoes. A couple of years ago during one of these growth spurts, Monkey Boy told me he needed tacky pants. Tacky pants? Why would my little, Southern preppy boy be asking for tacky pants? Then it came to me, he wanted khaki pants. All was right with my world again.

yes, and mine wears his tacky pants with horse shirts. he wants no part of a shirt with any other sort of embroidery. in this way, he is SO his dad. maybe i can talk him into the golden fleece one day. until then, i'll be scouring sale racks off season.

oh my, I am cracking up! My boys love tacky pants--not khaki, but honest to god tacky.
I have never had any interest in what my boys wear--I learned years ago that it is a battle that I am not going to win.
Conner was known for his fashion sense. I will never forget making rounds one day and having a respiratory therapist say: Oh YOU"RE Conner's mom! We all wait at carpool every day to see what he is going to wear! So just what was wrong with a royal blue cape, green rain boots, orange shorts, a pirate skull and crossbones tee shirt and a red fireman's hat?

Don't you love the words kids create for everyday things? My favorite - when my son was 4 or 5, he loved (still does at age 15) remote control vehicles. Except he couln't say remote control. It was "mokin re-troll."

ellie bee: Mine likes to be able to pick any shirt and any pants and not worry if they match. That's why he only wears khaki and jeans!

Terri: Another favorite was when he was almost 3 and wanted to know where is ovary was. ???? He meant his Xmen Wolverine action figure!

LOL. Maddy got into a phase where she thought driving was cool (because Cool Dad let her sit in his lap while driving! HELLO!?!?!) so she wanted to become a "Ballet Parker" when she grew up.
