So, Sharon, have you been knitting?

Why yes, I have! Did you know that I finished a sock before I left Michigan? Please note that I haven't finished a pair of socks, just a sock! And here it is:

Aren't you proud of me!? And the amazing part is that is fits!

I've also been working on the shawl I started before I left Michigan. The yarn I'm using for this is just yummy and the effect of the colors is really very pretty:

The reason that I haven't made more progress on the shawl is because I have been 'gift knitting.' I've just started a healing shawl for a friend's mom who just found out that she has breast cancer. She is going through some extreme chemo so I thought it would be nice for her to have something to comfort her. I'm knitting it in cotton as it is so hot down here:

O.K. Leslie, if you are reading this and want your baby gifts to be a surprise, don't read any further.

I knitted a very cute baby hat for the baby that Leslie, A.K.A the most fertile woman in the world, is expecting. I knitted it out of a very bulky chenille that is the color of a baby duck. I think our model, Little Bear, looks adorable in it:

Other news from the front: We had a serious storm last night that blew over trees which took our power out. We got power again around midnight, but my planned evening of knitting was cancelled as I couldn't see well enough from the light provided by the flashlight to knit. Bummer!

Two big things for the weekend: the release of the new Harry Potter book and I get to see the movie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! And with that I'll leave you with an Oompa song:

OOMPA LOOMPA DOOMPADEE DOO

I'VE GOT A PERFECT PUZZLE FOR YOU

OOMPA LOOMPA, DOOMPADAH DEE

IF YOU ARE WISE YOU'LL LISTEN ME

WHAT DO YOU GET WHEN YOU GUZZLE DOWN SWEETS

EATING AS MUCH AS AN ELEPHANT EATS

WHAT ARE YOU AT GETTING TERRIBLY FAT

WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL COME OF THAT

I DON'T LIKE THE LOOK OF IT

OOMPA LOOMPA DOOMPADEE DAH

IF YOU'RE NOT GREEDY YOU WILL GO FAR

YOU WILL LIVE IN HAPPINESS TOO

LIKE THE OOMPA LOOMPA DOOMPADEE DO

DOOMPADEE DOO

Life at the Beach

I know some of you are quite familiar with St. Simons Island, but my Michigan friends have never been to this little corner of the Earth. This is why I'm going to share a couple of photos with ya'll. The first one is of the beach at sunset. My house is 300 feet from the Atlantic Ocean. Check out these colors:

Isn't it amazing?!

This lovely photo is of me enjoying a summer evening on the veranda. Yes, that is a palm tree in the background. Check out the painted toes! My friend, Melissa, calls it 'summer toes' when you keep your toes painted so that they look good in sandals!

By the way, I don't want any comments from ya'll making fun of my monkey toes!
